THE BANKRUPTCY OF THE UNITED STATES
Dear readers:
Like many of you, my head has literally been awash with confusion in regard to the unraveling financial disaster brought about by our government leadership (and I use the term leadership very, very loosely). We Americans have been betrayed to the core of our being by the impudence, arrogance, and profligate spending of those people who are sworn to look after the interests of American citizens, first and foremost.
Having lived within my means for all of my life, having paid every debt, both large and small, and having owed not one soul on this planet so much as a penny, I have found myself in the past two months mortgaged to the hilt by the greed, covetousness and abject stupidity (make that utter insanity) of my government, bankers, mortgage brokers, mortgage lenders, and scumbags of every stripe.
My husband and I moved into a house which we could afford 20 years ago. We lived a simple life, paid our bills on time, dressed modestly, ate healthily, and opted to set fun and games aside for the large part so that we might set money aside for our future. We gave thanks to God for our modest home, for the jobs by which we supported ourselves, for the nation in which we were so fortunate to reside, for our friends, families, and community in which we lived, never once suspecting what fools we were to do so.
Jay and I were throwbacks to a different time, a different day and age where individualism, self-respect, self-reliance and accountability stood for something–
More on this at a later time…
